Are You Out of Strength? It’s Time to Head to Happy’s House | Pastor Bobby Adamson

Pastor Bobby Adamson   -

According to God’s Word, our strength is directly tied to our joy.

But sometimes, it feels like we’ve lost our way to Happy’s House.

Sometimes it feels like we’re weaker than ever as we endeavor to engage in the never-ending battles of life. Fatigue sets in and it’s difficult to escape because everything’s a struggle… the joy of living is overtaken by the battle to survive.

“What’s happening..? I don’t understand..,” is often a common mantra in the conversations of believers when they talk to one another, and it’s even a more common mantra when we speak to ourselves.

We often feel like we have more to do than time to do it, and we can often feel overwhelmed when anything else is added to an already overtaxed schedule.

The other side of the coin is we have too much time. We’re swallowed up by our own thoughts… thoughts about what could happen, or what might happen, or what it feels like is happening.

If strength is brought about by joy then we better figure out the way to Happy’s house. Because if we don’t, doom and gloom are going to lock us in their room. I can’t speak for everyone, but as for me and my house – we’re gonna serve the Lord.

We’re heading for Happy’s House because that’s where God has called us to live.

So, what’s the way to Happy’s House?

1. You gotta get saved.

For those of us who are saved, we’ve gotta remind ourselves what that actually means in order to get to Happy’s House.

Psalm 144:15 says, “Happy are the people whose God is the Lord.” If you’re not saved and you wanna be happy, you’re gonna have to get saved. There is no sustainable joy without the Lord.

None.

Money, sex, drugs – they all only give you a temporary pause from an unhappy life. But eventually, you’re gonna come back to yourself, just like the prodigal son did.

You’re gonna start thinking about the bigger picture.
You’re gonna recognize the depravity of your own soul.
Eventually, you’re gonna find out that the money, and the affairs, and the self-medication didn’t do it.

Then you’re gonna begin to think about your heavenly father’s house… and why you are not in it.

For those of us who are saved, whose God is the Lord; We’ve gotta remind ourselves what that means in order to make it back to Happy’s House.

It means you’re not going to go to hell. That’s something to be happy about! No matter what you are going through right now, you know where you’re not going? You are not going to hell.

2. Your salvation means that all things are possible.

In Mark 9:23, Jesus said to the believer, “All things are possible to them that believe.

It means if you’re sick, you can be healed.
It means if you’re broke, you can be prosperous.
It means if you’re anxious, you can find peace.
It means if you’re battling addiction, you can be delivered.
It means if you are in a prison with no doors, there is still a way of escape.

3. Your salvation means that you are going to Heaven.

Listen –  your last breath here is your first breath in Heaven. You got something to be happy about because you need to remember – after all this, you’re going to Heaven.

John 14:2 ESV: “In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?”

Philippians 3:20 ESV: “But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,”

Revelation 21:4 ESV: “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

Revelation 21:21-25: “…and the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass…And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb.”

You’re going to Heaven. It’s time to start getting happy about where we’re going, because you are quite literally headed to Happy’s House.

You gotta think yourself happy if you are gonna make it to Happy’s House.

Acts 26:2: Paul says to King Agrippa, “I think myself happy, King Agrippa, because I shall answer for myself this day before you touching all things wherefore I am accused.”

Proverbs 23:7 says, “as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” If you’re gonna make it to Happy’s House, it’s gonna be because you thought yourself happy.

In 1st Samuel 30, when David had lost everything, the Bible says he encouraged himself in the Lord. Encouraged is spelled “en” couraged, but maybe we should think of encouraged as “in couraged” (incouraged). Just before Joshua and the Isrealites were about to do something they had not been able to do for the past 40 years, which was cross over into the promise that God had made them, the word that God would emphatically give Joshua over and over was to be strong and courageous. Earlier in the chapter he told him, “Moses is dead, now rise up and cross this Jordan.” God was telling Joshua: there’s some things in your past that have died. They didn’t make it into the promise, but you need to rise up, find your courage and strength and cross over.

You can’t find your way to Happy’s House if you keep blowing out your candle with negative thoughts and fear filled words.

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” Psalm 119:105
